BIFkids & brands

“CSR, sustainability, purpose, these are all iterations of the same thing, all moving towards an unavoidable new normal. At some point in the near future we need to live in a world where all business has a positive social and environmental impact on the world, and the brands that do this for real will be the winners.”
Jamie Burdett  - 20 years in Sustainable Innovation

As the Founder of BIF for Enterprise, Matt’s worked with some of the world’s largest brands meaning he knows a thing or two about corporate need. He also understands their requirement to innovate as rapidly as possible towards positive change. Brands in the modern world are about what they do and tell, rather than just what they tell. Their stories must emotionally engage their audiences on a deep enough level to connect with global and local concerns that people are now all too aware of.

They must go way beyond just the provision of goods and services to become the leading force for a shift towards a more equitable and balanced world. We are seeing this shift through the actions of some of the world’s leading companies and it provides hope that this will be an accelerating journey that has already started.

Within this, BIFKiDS can play a role.

With the Sustainable Development Goals as a guide to what’s needed, more briefs perhaps than goals, BIFKiDS works with brands to create solutions ... by kids, for kids.

These solutions can be imaginations brought to life as a storybook, shared with a brand’s stakeholders and customers as a communication of their intent - or go even further into new product or service development.

Working with BIFKiDS, we help brands understand a great question that they can get help respond to, convene groups of children connected to their companies and provide a process that produces amazing communication assets, a beautiful story and a fun project.

BIFKIDS COLLABs

We're combining proven BIF Enterprise innovating with kids creative problem solving to collaborate new, meaningful value. The process is adaptable and scalable but generally works through these 3 Steps:

1.

Define the challenge

We help craft the real purpose of both brand/brand problem and BIFKiDS collaborating as a mutual value proposition including project outputs and goals.

2.

Activate BIFKiDS workshops

Designing the right workshop, identifying the right kids (either working with a school, employee children or bespoke invitees) and the facilitating the creative problem solving workshop.

3.

Activate Brand outputs

Outputting the experience as brand assets for launch i.e. from social images and videos, competitions, custom publications through to new product development and collab products and services.

E.G. POWERSHOP

BIFKiDS teamed up with Powershop in New Zealand - an independent consumer friendly energy company - to explore the future of power.   Powershop's challenge concerned their Customer Service (CS) centre. The Powershop CS office is the No2 employer in their region. But from an enterprise reputation and CSR point of view they were unknown as a responsible employer in the local community. So, we designed a BIFKiDS Powershop collaboration as an experience to help bring Powershop's local presence to life.

We connected with a local college, engaged with the head to identify a group of young students who were the sustainability leaders in the school. We then set a creative challenge to fit with the school's own sustainability education and Powershop's brand promise; how we could better  'make, move and use electricity'. The winning idea would be made into a book that we would publish, gifting copies to the school to use for fund raising activities, and if possible Powershop would feed the winning idea into their innovation pipeline.
